The name Briton/Brighton/Brighten came into the Minns family (which is my maiden name) via a Mary Briton marrying Charles Minns in 1838. Mary Briton was the daughter of Jeremiah Briton and Elizabeth Buxton who married in Thwaite St Mary Norfolk in 1810. Elizabeth Buxton's father was Richard Buxton and he owned a farm called Temple Bar in Earsham Norfolk and this was left to Mary Briton but apparently my G.G. Grandfather Charles Minns whom she married was abit of a drinker and they lost the farm through debt. Anybody know anything about any of the above then I would love to hear from you.
