Joey Grimaldi was a famous clown, born in London in 1778, died 1837. His father Joseph was a comic pantomimist and his mother (Rebecca Brooker) was a dancer. Joey had a son, Joseph born to his second wife Mary Bristow in 1802 (they obviously liked the name Joseph!!). Many of my Grimaldi relatives (my Mother was a Grimaldi) have made claims that we are descendants of the clown Joey, but I have yet to discover the vital links. I have many Grimaldi's who are definate relatives of mine going back to the mid 1800's but need to find more. If anyone is able to help I would be very happy and grateful, thanks, Sue |
