BROMAGE Probably originating from the areas of Staffordshire or Castle Bromwich, Warwickshire. Other spellings found are - BROMWICH, BROMWITCH, BROMWICK, BROMIGE, BROMWIDGE, BROMMAGE, BRUMMAGE, BROMACH, etc. Possible definition is - 'Brom' is gorse and 'wic' is a dairy farm - so a dairy farm with gorse in the fields. Pity the cows!
