The name Pierce is thought to be from the French Pierre and was brought to Britain with William the Conquerer. Some think that the Perceys of Nothumberland and the Pierces share the same roots. Certainly, the name was very prevalent in North Wales in the nineteenth century and I am the descendant of a North Walian farmer of that time.
