The Dressekie family, many now living in USA, Canada and the UK, originate from the parish of St.Mary,Jamica, West Indies. Much of the land they owned in the Mango Valley / Markham area was sold off many years ago but Dressikie Post Office in the small area of Dressikie still carries the family name (slight spelling difference). This land was named Dressekie in the 1700's by a Scottish family who owned the land and of course their African slaves who worked their plantations. Today's Dressekie's all hail from those slaves. |
