My father John Smiles was born in Northumberland around 1900. He was in the Army, as a teenager, in the 1st World War and in the Air Force during the 2nd World War. I believe his parents were in service to 'titled' people in Northumberland when he was young. Unfortunately I was only 9 when he died and was unable to solicit much information from my mother before she died. I do know that I have a half brother Mervyn who is possibly +/- 65 yrs of age and was born in Northumberland/Tyne area. Any information however little would be useful. |
