Researching my ancestors the Jardines of Carlisle. They moved from the Annan area in 1853 to Carlisle. James Jardine (1823-1897) and his wife Alison Davidson (1826-1911) had 11 children. Linked names include Nicholson, Wilson, Denard and Swan. Three of James and Alisons children (Ann, John & Margaret) ran A & M Jardine Confectioners at 31 Castle St Carlisle from the 1890's until 1940's. Another brother (James) became MD of Teasdales Sweets, a local factory. Others were involved in the railways and one, Alison, became a school teacher and married David Nicholson, also a teacher. I would love to hear from any relatives or even anyone who remembers these people and the businesses they were involved with. I'm also researching the Dobson, Plasket & Thexton families of Cumberland/Westmorland, the Rice and King families of Somerset and the Holroyds of Bradford. Thankyou |
