According to an article in "Yorkshire on Sunday" the surname Ronksley was taken from the name of a farm in South Yorkshire now drowned by the Derwent reservoir. The article continues "The Ronksleys weren't very prolific. Now just a small group of them are to be found in and around Sheffield and they are likely to be descended from the same family. The name could be in danger of dying out." Can you help prove the surname isn't dying out?
