In reply to your message David, as far as I know the name Isaac originates from the days of the Roman Empire. When they invaded Britain over 2,000 years ago, most Britons fled west. In time the Roman culture took hold, and many Britons took their names from the Old Testaments that the Romans possessed. Hence the vast number of Isaac in either Wales, Devon and Cornwall. My own great-grandfather, Alfred, I believe, moved from South Wales to Colchester in search of work sometime during the 19th century.
