Beverley (Jennifer at adoption) Report 7 Apr 2003 20:32

When I was in the process of tracing my birth-mother, Sylvia (nee Geller)Sutton, I was told that, in Russia, where my mother's ancestors came from, the name was originally Heller. The name Geller was possibly adopted by the Germans as a term of abuse as it is similar to a word that means "dirty yellow". I should like to know whether this is true.
