Member Since: January 2003 Posts: 0 Send Message	The name McPhee means 'The dark one of Peace'. descended from Kenneth McAlpine, King of the Scots. The McPhees/Macphies were hereditary keepers of the Records of the Isles and were in possession of the Isle of Colonsay until 1615. Malcom Macphie joined John of Islay in his ill-fated rebellion. It was after the forfeiture of the Lord of the Isles that the Macphies gave their allegiance to the Islay MacDonalds. After this they were a 'broken' clan.
