There's all kinds of records for immigrants into Australia, inclduing Victoria, and you should be able to access those from down under.

Hi Sylvia in Canada. I think he had consumption as he was only here in Aust. a very short time when he died. His family may have thought our weather healthier for him. Very sad he died on his own. I am trying to work out if he had any connection to our own White family which started in Ireland, but so far cannot make a connection.

Algernon Hyde Holt White born 4th Qrt 1847 Middlesex England and died 31st January 1877 in Victoria Australia. Burried in the Melbourne General Cemetery. He appeared to be still living in England in 1871 Census. Trying to find out who his parents were and why and how he migrated to Australia.
