Hi Ken and welcome to the boards.

You can also try putting the names you are researching into the Search Trees box above (in the dark green bar) to see if anyone on this site has them in their tree. If you find a connection, you can contact the tree owner.

If you would like help with your research, why not start a thread of your own? Take a look at the Help Clinic - above left - and also the first message on the Find Ancestors board for further advice.

Dear Phil
I have just come across your search re Gwenllian Lloyd (please bear with me as I am new to this)
My G'Father ,Evan Thomas Evans, married Elizabeth Anne Lloyd b1869 d 1925 m 1894 Cardiff. This could be Lizzie Ann (I believe her father was Samuel Lloyd) she had a daughter Gwenllian Lloyd. I have no knowledge of her life prior to this but there are a lot of coincidences followig.
My G'Father was born 1872-1957 in Cardiganshire he was a merchant sailor later a miner in the Rhondda he lived Conway Road Treorchy. Gwenllian Had 7 or 8 children Bryn,Myra,Alwyn,Cyril,Lance,Beryl & Orville a lot of similar names. My G'Father had a brother David William Evans. Gwenllian moved to Ramsgate probably early 1930's
I would be interested to search deeper if you got in touch

I am trying to get information on my family tree but have hit a brick wall. I have gone back to my great, great, grandmother Elizabeth Hughes who was born around 1845 / 6 in Hertfordshire, England. She was a resident in the Pontypool Workhouse in Wales in 1873 where she had two illigitimate daughters, being an unmarried woman of 25 years at the time. My story so far is as below. My father was Brinley LLoyd Hughes, born in Treorchy in 1913 and the eldest child. His brothers and sisters were Lancelot Milton LLoyd, Olive Myra LLoyd, Orville LLoyd, Gwenllian Beryl LLoyd, William Cyril LLoyd, and Alwyn LLoyd. My grand-parents were Willian Henry Hughes and Gwenllian LLoyd who married in 1912 in Porth, Glamorgan. William was involved with the Bargoed Lillies Cricket Club around the 1920's period and I have a rare photo of him with the team. They lived in Conway Road, Cwmparc at the time. Records appear to show that my Grandmother was illigitimate and the marriage witnesses were a David William Evans and a Lizzie Anne Evans. My Grand-father's mother was Mary Ann Hughes who appears to have been unmarried as she was born in the Pontypool Workhouse in 1873 to an unmarried mother. She had an older sister named Jane who was born in 1870/1 and also a resident in the Pontypool Workhouse. Their mother, my great, great, grand-mother, was Elizabeth Hughes who was born around 1845/6 in Hertfordshire, England. In the workhouse in 1873 was a David Evans, unmarried, aged 55 years and listed as a farm labourer from Monmouthshire. Could this have been the witness at my Grand-parents? There were 9 men aged between 62 and 81 years, 3 men between the age of 20 and 55 years, 8 children and 4 women, one being my great, great grandmother living in this workhouse so could it be possible that one of the younger men was my paternal great, great, grandfather? If any of this rings a bell with anyone I would be very pleased to hear from you as it is very difficult to obtain Welsh records in the early 1800's. Thank you. Phil.
