Am trying to trace the origins of my grandfather, William Purcell, who lived in South Africa at least from approximately 1919 when his eldest child (my mother) was born. Married to 'Em', they had 7 children - Denise, Brian, Peter, Bernie, Mary, Barbara, & Kevin. He worked for many years for South African Railways, was affectionaly known as 'Grandad Willy' and died I think in the late1950's, early 60's. I think his family may have been from Ireland, as I always remember my mother telling us kids that his side of the family were 'Irish pirates' - in an affectionate manner. |
