Trying to find White

I am trying to find a very elusive ancestor. My grandmother Catherine Matthews married a William White on 21 Oct 1908 St Saviours Church Poplar. The certificate gives Williams age as 28 years. (making him born 1880). His occupation was a Seaman and his fathers name was Benjamin White occupation Rigger Both Catherine and William emigrated to New Zealand in Dec 1908 and a son was born there 1909. William gave his age on his sons birth certificate as 32 years making him born 1877. New Zealand army discharge papers for William give his birth date as 11 May 1887. All these certificates and papers are definately for the same person. All very confusing. Please if you have my elusive William in your family tree I would love to hear from you.
