I have traced my Grandfather's family to Clerkenwell in London. The family consisted of Edward Norris, (my great grandfather) his 'wife' (I don't know if they were married, can't find any record) Anne D Norris and five children up to the 1881 Census. Edward born in 1874, Kate in 1877, Frederick in 1879, and James in 1881. My grandfather was born in 1883, Albert Norris. I have found my grandmother was Ann Dredge born in 1855. They lived at 8 Wynyatt Street, Clerkenwell, London. My grandfather was born at 36 Percival Street, Clerkenwell. Sometime after 1883 the family disintegrated. I have found Edward the eldest at the age of 17 living in Shoreditch (via the 1891 Census) and perhaps Kate working as a servant. Does anyone have any pointers as to how to trace the family if they went in to a workhouse or disintegrated. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. |
