Rose Hannah Bosley, the daughter of Joseph Bosley and Sarah Jane Gadsby, was born in the hamlet of Yeldersley near Ashbourne in Derbyshire on 4 September 1886. She and her then partner, Harry Adkins, had two children, a son also named Harry and my mother, known as Rose Alice Adkins (dob 1910), but with the birth registration of Alice Rosannah Bosley. They were both placed for informal adoption with relatives (Gadsby and Green) prior to her subsequent formal marriage to a Charles Johnson in Derby on 21 December 1912. Rose may have had two further children (daughters?) from this union prior to her early death on 21 November 1916. Information would be valued from any source which can be confirmed concerning Charles Johnson or a later Johnson family, or indeed which may throw a light on the fostering and subsequent fortunes of Rose's first two children (living in Shepton Mallet, Ponsticil and Pensarn in S Wales) who (despite birth registration as Bosley) went under the surname Adkins prior to their settling permanently in Wirral, Cheshire in the late 1920s.
