I am hoping to find more about my grandmother Jesse Gill, born in Gravesend 1890's. Her parents were born in Newcastle On Tyne & were called Samuel & Mary, Samuel was a Millwright.Jesse worked as a maidservant in Orsett Hall,Grays in Essex, which was owned by a Colonel Whitmore & whilst there had a son Reginald James Gill(my father). As she was unmarried he was placed in care. He never saw his mother again, but I have since found out that she also worked as a maid in London after this.Jesse was the youngest child & her siblings were called, Samuel-Florence-Harry-Herbert-Percy and Albert. |
