my grandmother was Florence Scillitoe from Earls Colne. She left with her father as a young woman to work in service in New southgate, London before the Great War. She was born arounnd 1890.I think her mothers maiden name wss Fancourt. She married William Lavington and had one son, Leonard. She often talked wistfully of her childhood in Essex, and the family cottage in 'Hillibunnies', Earles Colne. |
