Trying to find ancestors and info of William Whyte born about 1765 (believe in the Muthill area of Scotland) and died 23Jun1848. He treked from Muthill to Oban about 1785 in order to act as foreman over the woodcutters who were felling timber for an Oban business man, Thomas Kennedy. On 16Mar1793in Muckairn, he married Catherine Campbell, daughter to Duncan Campbell, Achnaha, parish of Muckairn. They had 12 children. He was later employed at Lorn Furnace Iron works at Bonawe, first as head joiner then postmaster. |
