CASEY - In tracing my Casey familey tree, I would be glad to receive information about ggggf, Samuel Casey. All I know is that he was born circa 1818, in either Middlesex or Ireland. His son, Edwin Casey (b.1838 Clerkenwell) and his wife Jane Hughes (b.1837 Clerkenwell) were both resident at 6 Lever Street, (believed to be Samuel's address), at the time of their marriage in 1863. At the time of the 1881 Census Edwin and Ann, is this really Jane, or a 2nd wife?) were registered as living at 2 Cambridge Place, Willesden, with their son Edwin George (although I know that he had a brother (Tom) who is not mentioned on the census form). I believe Edwin died in 1888 (this is awaiting confirmation). I am interested in any information about the family of Edwin George Casey and his wife Nellie (nee James) who at one time lived at 27 Sutton Street, Stepney, London. They later moved to 1a Shirland Mews, Paddingdon, then to Cambridge Road, Willesden with their family which included sons Henry George, William Edwin Joseph (my grandfather, born 1888), Leonard, Tom; daughters, Lydia, Annie, Mary and Nell(Helen). Now have a connection with the family of Henry George, would like to find other members of this extended family. My grandfather married Emma Smith and they had two children, Len and Eileen My grandfather always considered himself to be from an Irish Cockney family, although they were not Catholics and always celebrated St Patrick's day. Any information which would help me in compiling my family tree, and in particular the Irish connection, which is much further back than I anticipated, would be very much appreciated. Thanks. |
