Having been adopted, I don't at present have very much info, but I do know from my half sister that our maternal great-grandmother was a MARY NIVEN, from the Edinburgh area and, working backwards, born around 1850 +/- She married a Mr ? WALLS and they had a milliners shop (or something similar) on Princes Street, Edinburgh. I don't know how many children they had, but one daughter was MARY CONSTANCE. Don't know when she was born but she died in 1965/6 and was married to ERIC JOHN ADAMS and at some point came to England, probably Hertfordshire as the family home was Letchworth. They had five daughters, the eldest being my mother, CHRISTINA JOAN, born in 1916. If this rings bells with anybody, please let me know. Many thanks. |
