RICHARDS My great grandfather James Richards was born at St Kitts in the West Indies c1850. I believe his parents went there from Cardiff but I'm not sure if they were from the Cardiff area. I am also told that his parents could have died on St Kitts as there was an epidemic of Diphtheria.No records were found for around that time in the church. There also had been a fire in the records office. My grandmother was Beatrice Ethel Beevers Richards, she was born 1884 in New Cross London but they later lived in Manchester and Grimsby.I know she had an older sister Florence and a younger brother who was lost at see out of Grimsby. I think there could have been older brothers who also went to sea. |
