I am trying to trace my paternal grandfather James McDonald. He was born in 1885 I do not know where or the actual date. He married Bessie Powell in Manchester in 1907. He served in Italy during the first world war. They had James (my father) Harry who died young and the twins Albert & Eric. If anything rings a bell, I would be glad to hear from you. I have found on the 1891 census a McDonald family living in Ashton-under-Lyne nr Manchester. They are James his wife Alice and a son James which fits some info I have. They had 8 children in all, William ,Joseph Edwin,Herbert,Mary A,James,Arthur and Clara. James the father born Knutsford Cheshire Alice born Manchester and the children in Ashton. Ring any bells? |
