FIELD FAMILY, LAMBETH/WANDSWORTH I am trying to find the family of my Grandfather George William Field, born Battersea/Lambeth area - South London or Surrey as it was known then [also connected with Wandsworth, Putney area] in 1885/6. Date of birth aprox 2nd Feb. He had a brother, Thomas, and a sister May. He married Selina Mullis, from Stratton, Glos., in 1915 and had four children, Kathleen, Cecil, Winifred and, the eldest, my father, Ronald [born 1916, died 2000]. His marriage was wintessed by his mother, Jane Price, and, we belive, his sister, then married and called May Tier. May might have married a man called Gordon. George lived at 45 Francis Road, Battersea with his family. His father was Thomas Field, born c1856 and his mother was Jane Field [nee Price]. Thomas's mother's name was Eliza and she was born in 1827. He also had a brother, Richard, born 1859. The family once lived at 69, Stewarts Road, Battersea. We haven't found his father. Due to some sort of family falling out, my father never really knew his father's family. My Dad, and his sisters were born at 6, Handel Street,Wandsworth. Cecil was, I believe, born at Thornton Heath, Surrey George was a master craftsman/builder who worked for the Taylor Woodrow corporation among others in the 1930s. I am George's only granddaughter, born 1960. Can anyone help? |
