My sister and I would like to find any other descendants of Alexander Begley (born around 1840)and his wife Margaret Begley (nee Walsh or Walshe)of Belmullet, County Mayo.We are the grandchildren of his son Thomas Joseph Begley, who emigrated to Glasgow some time before 1914, and died young in 1919. Family folklore says that all the other sons emigrated to the United States, but we think there was a daughter (Rose) who was living in Donegal in the nineteen-twenties. Alexander Begley had at some stage been a senior policeman in the Royal Irish Constabulary. |
