Hi I am trying to locate any family members of Ernest Hawkins Marshall Born circa 1872, he had 3 older sisters Julia, 1866, Selina,1868, and Ada,1870 .His parents were James Marshall born c 1831 in Barrowby Lincs, and Sarah ?? born in Hanover Sq London 1837 he married Florence Lilly/Lily (it's spelled differently on different documents)Sherrington in 1894. They were my grandmother Gladys's parents, She and her twin sister Doris were born in 1912, There were 3 older sisters, Ivy Florence, born 11 Dec 1894 Rose (poss middle name Sarah), born in 1895, Phyllis I dont know D.O.B and a brother George. I know Ivy and Rose remained unmarried all their lives so therefore had no children, but I know Phyllis married and had I think 2 daughters, but don't know how to contact them. My Nan died last August and her twin died 2 or 3 years earlier. I have a photograph of my G.grandmother Florence outside her Grocery store in Portobello Road in London circa 1900, The shop front still remains the same as my G.grandfather Ernest had a clause written in the leasehold that meant it could not be changed. What I cannot find is any trace of the family on the 1901 census, didn't they complete it? But as there were so many Marshalls in that area of London were any of them brothers, sisters or Parents of Ernest. Ernest died in 1944, on his death Cert. It says he was a retired master Grocer. By all accounts they were a well off family with quite a lot of property, and I believe he left all of his daughters a house. Any info gratefully received. Thanks |
