I am trying to find anything on a Walter Duncan born 1871 in London. He was my Grandfather, he apparently died the day I was christened in July 1951. He was a Milkman. His father's name was also Walter Duncan, Coachpainter. Was married before marrying my Gran, in 1942 but had been with my Gran for years as their oldest child was born in 1916. On their marriage certificate he was down as a Widower so his first wife had obviously died then leaving him free to marry my Gran, which he did. I found a Walter Duncan on the 1901 Census return living in Walton Street, Chelsea which is where I was born and only a few hundred yards from where my Gran lived so I think it is a safe bet to assume that this was he. I did also find a Walter Duncan on the 1881 Census return who was 10 years old living with his mother and siblings but she was a Widow so no father. |
