Mary Report 21 Apr 2003 00:53

My mother was born in 1910 in London. Her father's name was John BUTTON.She was "given away" soon after birth and was brought up by Arthur and Mary KAY of London/Middlesex as their natural born daughter. John BUTTON owned a general store at 19,Hatton Wall, Holborn as did his father before him. His name was also John BUTTON.Their dob's were 1854 and 1827 and both were born in Holborn. My Mother died in the 1970's. My father gave me the above details shortly before he died last November. He had always maintained that he had no knowledge of my Mother's childhood. I am not able to get to London so paid a family history research company I found on the net to find my Mother's birth certificate for me.That was on December 7th and I'm still waiting! I am having this company looked into at present and am reluctant to do business with another one. My Mother was known as Winifred Dora KAY when she married my Father in 1934 at the Congregational Church, Edmonton, Middlesex. If any of this rings a bell with you, do please contact me. Thankyou
