I am trying to find any descendants of James Coleby or William Coleby who lived in the Brighton area from the 1830's.James & William were either brothers or cousins. William married Ruth Cooper (she was born in Slindon, West Sussex in 1844. She had a brother called Henry)in Slindon Parish Church 1867. She and her husband then moved to Thornton Heath where they had at least 4 children, Elizabeth (who died in infancy), William born 1870, Henry 1872 and Ada Ruth 1879 who got married in 1902 in Godstone Surrey. William married Rose Lingwood Neate in Thornton Heath in 1891 and their children were William, Walter, 2 girls poss Gertrude & Lillian, Harold (who died in 1975), Donald Ernest, Leonard Frederick & Alan George, some of whom were born in the Sevenoaks area. The Brighton branch of the family ran a plumbing business, called James Coleby & Sons, as did Williams senior and junior in Thornton Heath.
