Member Since: February 2003 Posts: 6 Send Message	William Wheeldon born in Ripley, Belper, Derbyshire in 1861. Son of William & Martha Wheeldon (nee Handford). William senior was born in Wyaston near Ashbourne, Derbyshire in about 1822 and Martha Handford was born in Kirk Langley in about 1824. They were my 2X great grandparents. William born 1861 in Ripley was the older brother to John Wheeldon my great grandfather. He (William jnr) vanishes after the 1871 census in Ripley where he's aged 9. By 1881 the family had moved to Normanton in Yorkshire but William is not there. At the age of 19 - 20 he is obviously eleswhere working or has possibly died. The 1881 census records the family as 'Wheldon' not Wheeldon so if William survived his descendants may be going under the name of Wheldon I can't say for certain. If any of this sounds familiar or you have a William Wheeldon/Wheldon born in Ripley in 1861 please let me know. Do you have any of these people in your tree? Any information regarding this family would be gratefully received.
