I am trying to find out more about my Great Great Grandfather John Armstrong and his father Hugh i.e.when they were born and where etc. They were probably born in Alston Cumberland, John married Elizabeth Summers (born in alston in 1929) in June 1850 in Alston. Their son Hugh was my greatgrandfather and in the 1881 census he is listed as aged 26 living with his widowed mother elizabeth in High Dyke Arlecdon cumbria along with six siblings. his brothers and sisters names are Matthew b. 1851 in alston, Isabella b. 1853 in alston,hannah h b.1860 in alston,james b.1864 in alston,samuel b.1866 in arlecdon and thomas b.1870 in arlecdon. Any help would be much appreciated. |
