Looking for ANY Mootham connections. My Grandmother was Margaret Keturah Macbeth, Nee Mootham, born in Ashton, Essex. Her father, Louis (or Lewis) Mootham was the son of a very well to do family related to the Saint John family of Bletsoe, Bedfordshire. Louis became a Coachman and Domestic Servant probably because he married 'below his station' and fell out with his father, Reginald George Hamlyn Mootham. Louis' wife was a Mary Jane Sargent who appears to have been a servant girl working for a family in Saffron Walden, Essex. I have now traced Margaret's brother, Reginald, killed at Ypres in 1917 and found that he had 2 children, Reginald John and Gertude. |
