Francis MEARS (great grandfather, mid-1800s) born in Little Weldon, Northants but bought up by family (elsewhere), married LETTs (great grandmother) of the Rothwell, Northants LETTS family then moved to Long Eaton, Notts to work in the railway carriage yards at Toton. I cannot trace his family through Little Weldon (maybe also links with the MEARS of Apethorpe and other villages). All seem to have been agricultural labourers with large families. Anyone throw light on the MEARS of Northamptonshire? Tony Plackett |
