Adolphe Hayes. Born in Liverpool in 1901 - his mother was from Belgium, hence the unusual christian name. Adolphe was known as Tom & married my great grandmother Florence (unsure of maiden name) & had two sons: Dennis & David and adopted a girl, Jean (my grandmother). Tom had a sister called Emily. Unfortunately I don't know Tom or Emily's parents' names & have had no success searching for either of them on 1881 or 1901 census. Based in Southampton, Hampshire Tom was in the merchant navy & later in life worked at Thorneycrofts (the local ship building yard) where he ran the power house. Sadly Tom died in 1943 aged 42. Any family history/information gratefully received. |
