You might be better off ordering a sibling's birth cert in case that marriage isn't yours. Rose

Tracey, Finding the marriage reference won't help you find her maiden name because Fanny was 40 when she married him. She had probably been married before. Rose

Hi Maid Marian have totally different family on 1851 cencus in goodleigh devon thomas 1806 fanny 1804 john 1846 philip 1850 thomas 1844 george 1848 This is my family Tracey

I think you may have to bite the bullet and order the cert!

If you order the marriage certificate you will get her maiden name. The reference you give is the full reference. If you can't read the name on the child's birth certificate, then you can get in touch with wherever you ordered it from and they will check the name again and let you know what they think it is. I have done this a couple of times, and they have been very helpful. Kath. x

They could not have married in 1844 as their children were alreday born then!

Ref was on Ancestry but i then put it on the partial marriage and it normally brings up all marraiges in that qur & date.But mine dosent Tracey

Tracey, 1844 has a lot of transcribing work needed. You might need to wait until it's complete. Rose

Thomas courtney married 1844 barnstable Devon april qur ref. 10/73. Trying to find wife called fanny surname.On Ancestry ref does not come up is there another site were ref can be looked up to find wife. Have childs birth cert but cant read maiden name Many thanks Tracey
