Hi Brenda Thank you for your help. Sadly I bought this birth a while back and it wasn't him - Henry I feel she named after her brother of the same name - I had thought the George would be after her step brother ( her father was John GILLARD and mother Ann COHEN) . I'm pretty sure he would have been recorded as a Henry GILLARD ( if indeed she registered his birth ) Thus would have expected Henry & his mother to be Gillard's on the 1871 census. Debi

Could you help pls? Somewhere in 1871 is a single mother with her illegitamate son. Ann Elizabeth GILLARD born 25 May 1849 St Georges in the East. Her son is Henry COONE born abt 1870 - have never found a birth for him and later census details of 1891 & 1901 census record his pob differently Cripplegate then Whitechapel. Henry's mother married a Micheal Daniel COONE in 1874. The family by 1881 will consist of further children: Margaret ( 1874 ) , Micheal ( 1876 ) & Ann ( 1879) The family at the time of 1881 should be placed in St Lukes of London as the children were born there until 1882 ......Henry married in 1891 aged 21 the census that year gave his age as 21 too - however in 1901 he's now aged 39.....he dies in 1912 aged 42........ Henry's mother could be calling herself by her middle name Elizabeth ( as in 1901 ) and strangely in 1891 she's recorded as Alice. Thank you in advance
