So Annie In summary regarding Leonard W. Redhead... I have checked final section of Deaths from 1957 to 1983...still nothing. So from 1896 through to 1983 there is no death recorded on Ancestry Free BMD. Plus regarding any marraige from 1912 to 1960 there are two possibles but that would mean that he married in BUCKROSE aged 57 or in DURHAM N.W. aged 63. Not impossible but not really likely...I don't think. You may have to consider that his family Emigrated at some time and so his whereabouts, marraige and death are recorded somewhere else outside UK. Have looked on Passenger Lists of Titanic but there are no Redheads listed. I would suggest that you google for - Encyclopaedia Titanica - and keep that in your Favourites. Have found it very useful as it sometimes fits well for possible time of emigrations of missing ancestors and contains biographies of some passengers / crew etc. Have also looked at site - ancestors on board.com - ....it has a couple of L. Redheads who emigrated to different countries...take a look....if you have a connection to one of these places then BINGO you have found the correct person. If you look at that site...just enter initial and surname...it will supply all entries for 1890 to 1909. Failing that...what can I say... we certainly tried to find Ol' Leonard. If you do ever find him I would be greatly interested to know where he was found and how. Kind Regards Jimbob ps - I have had such a lot of help on Genes site over past couple of years......this was my chance to maybe help out in return,.

Jimbob, Many thanks for your further finds! I don't quite know what to think about them - my heart tells me that Leonard is a relatively unusual name so one of these chaps MUST be him, but my head says it's unlikely that he would have married that late. It's quite possible that he/the family moved yet again, so I wouldn't rule anything out on location grounds. I've had a look at the Medal Rolls online as you suggested, but no sign of him - just a whole heap of other REDHEADs ... had no idea it was such a common name! The Soldiers' Service Records for WW1, such as they survive, are held at the PRO in Kew - there's a chance he didn't get any medals and that his records are there. I've found other chaps this way, but I really need time to make a visit there - with a growing list of new queries, that shouldn't be too long now! Thank you so much for your valiant efforts on my behalf - I will be sure to let you know when I eventually pin him down. Kind regards Annie

Annie Searched through Deaths for Leonard in 1946 to 1956...still nothing...mind you he would only be 60 years of age. As regards a Marraige... I searched through 1947 to 1957 it showed one possible... so I just extended up to 1960 for the sake of it and another possible showed up. What do you think about these ones ? MARRIAGE Leon Redhead - 1953 BUCKROSE - Q2 - vol.2a, p82 Jean M. Brown ( Buckrose is a place in East Riding of Yorkshire, England MARRAIGE Leonard Redhead - 1959 DURHAM N.W. - Q1 - vol.1a, p1547 J. E.Coquet ( Durham is a City in North of England ) I am putting an explanation of where these places are in case you live outside of UK. Jimbob

Annie Have searched through 1927 to 1938 for any Death of Leonard W. Redhead but nothing there. He may have passed away after 1945....willl try that possibility. By the way anyone can now look at Military Service Records online. Try googling - National Archives on line and pick the top one on list. I have used that avenue recently and found some info. on there for my rellies. Will have a look at 1946 to 1956 for death and 1947 to 1957 for any marraige....he may have married late. Jimbob

Jimbob, How very kind of you to have looked in so many places for my Leonard! Had completely forgotten to check CWGC. Unfortunately, all that I know about him is from the 1901 Census where he shows up with his parents in Maidenhead. There is no 'living' memory of the chap - in fact, nobody knew that his parents moved to Maidenhead. Your mention of WW1 has raised the prospect that he might have served. Next time I'm at Kew - a while away I fear - I'll have a look thru' the soldiers' records and perhaps I could find out more that way. Do you have any more thoughts at all as to where I could look - grasping at straws now! Thank you once again for spending so much time and effort on this - despite the lack of a 'result' it has given me somewhere else to 'go', two heads definitely better than one!! Regs Annie

Annie Have searched for a Marraige for Leonard W. Redhead between years 1912 to 1946 and nothing is showing. ( age 16 to 50 ) Also thought that he may have died at young age so did search through deaths from 1896 to 1918 ( age 0 to 22 ) 1919 to 1926 ( age 23 to 30 ) and 1939 to1945 ( age 43 to 49 ) but nothing is showing for those periods.. Of course he may have passed away later but still youngish age. Will check out 1927 to 1938 tomorrow. Lastly thought that he may have been died in 1st World War so looked through CWGC site but again nothing. Do you have any kind of info. about him at all that might prove useful ? Jimbob

Rose, No, I haven't looked at Ancestry to marry Leonard off ... don't subscribe to it, so don't really know what's on offer there thesedays. How difficult is it as a 'look up'? - if it's too big an 'ask', I'll have to think about re-subscribing. Regs Annie

Janice, Well, well, well ... I don't know WHAT to think!! Whilst ROSE is a pretty common name and REDHEAD is more popular than I first thought, it might actually be worth getting that cert to find out. A northward-ly mobile butcher, perhaps?! Thanks for your input. Regs Annie
