Find Ancestors

Hello all, wondered if someone could look up 1851 census for Bolton. I am looking for the Brooks family, especially William Brooks who would be about 1 years old. Hoping his brother is Edward born c. 1824. Many thanks Maria Have just checked IGI and am now totally confused. Please see below.

There are 4 in Bolton , all way too old, none have mother maria. I cant find a William brooks born Lancs, with a mother Maria at the moment

Sorry Kath. I amended my first message when I realised it made no sense!! I'm trying to follow up a hot matches match(!) I have a William Brooks born c. 1850 in Bolton and am trying to find out if he was related to an Edward Brooks born c. 1824 in Bolton (who married a lady called Maria) Now I am wondering if William's dad James (aged 38 in 1851) and Edward Brooks (aged approx. 27) could be brothers? Thanks for your input Vera. No, unfortunately I don't know any more info than you have already. I was just trying to tie up a possible hot match lead. I am trying to find out if James had a brother Edward but as usual they don't appear where or when you want them to! Best wishes Maria

I've now checked IGI and found the following: - Christening William Brooks, 14/4/1850 St Peters Bolton Parents Edward Brooks & Maria (freeBMD marriage looks like surname Eden) Also gives parents of Edward and 3 siblings This fits in with info provided via hot match contact but not with census info kindly found earlier today putting William's father as James. I'm a bit confused now Maria. I've just re-read your initial post and you say you are looking for William Brooks in the 1851 census, aged about 1 (so born about 1850ish) and are hoping his BROTHER is Edward born c.1824. Did you mean FATHER rather than brother, as 26 years between siblings is quite a gap (although not impossible). Kath. x

Was your Edward a Joiner?
