i have no idea i am stuck can get back to 1600 on my mcmillan side but this side is proving very difficult. I suppose he could have if his mother was young when she had him

hi no i dont have them at hand but i have the 1891 cenus and it states alexander k mitchell 24 general laborour born dundee annie k mitchell 21 born dundee william k mitchell 2 born dundee john craig 19 boarder ellen mckay 17 boarder funny thing is that he lived right next door to his father in law

hi on alexanders birth certificate it says alexander mitchell but on his death certificate and the 1881 census he has added the kenny to it, but i cant seem to find him on any other census except the 1991,1901,and of course the 1881

It may also be that his name wasnt John Kenny, informants on death certs often got things wrong. I think it would be best if you try and find Alexander on the 1871 census and work from there. He was born in Dundee, where was he when he married? Perhaps you could ask for a 1881 census lookup, quite a few members have it on disk. Mhairi

thanks but your right i dont think its my family as anns son was born in 1866 and on his marriage and death certificate it states ann mitchell as mother and she afterwards maaried john kenny, im thinking that maybe they married in ireland or england as scotlands people aint helping me much

Just enter John Kenny birth Scotland on Familysearch.org. On US census John Kenny 35 Ann wife 39 children Mararet 12 Sarah 4 and William 2. Hope this helps Jennifer

thanks for the replies i have alexanders death certificate and it states ann mitchell as his mother who later married john kenny, and have tried all census and everywhere and cannot find them.

Have you tried looking all of them up on the 1881 census? if you got the ages of Ann and John from that and more info on where they were born someone on here would be able to look them up on say the 1861 census, you know how old Alexander is so start with him and see who he was living wiht in 1881. You could also try a general search on the familyhistory.org site and see whether any of them come up on the IGI. Lynne

Paula how do you know she married John Kenny, do you have their marriage certificate? If they married in Scotland their parents names will be on the certificate, if they married in England their fathers names & occupations will be on the certificate. Georgina.

hi i hope you can help have hit a brick wall as my person was illegitamate. alexander mitchell was born 1866 in dundee to a ann mitchell who later married john kenny. I have tried every angle trying to find anything i can about ann and john but to no avail i hope you can help paula
