Peter On my family side I have the name of the bride and formerly ****** checking through certs etc she was married before. On the second marriage they gave the surname that they now had which was their married surname (previous marriage) this has happened on quite a number of occasions. All I can suggest is that you look for a previous marriage for her. Good luck.

Harriet was 40 when she married - I doubt if she was a spinster! In which case either her father's name is made up, or she was previously Mrs Waters. OC

Sorry - on marriage cert it says spinster. Also her name matches her father's name. Only possibility on 1841 seems to be a harriet brown who is in prison! Can anyone find the family in 51 as a start? Peter

I maybe asking/stating the obvious Peter - however have you checked to see if a) Harriet was married before? b) that she hadn't taken on a step fathers name? Much happiness debi
