Hello again Karen I've found John's death record in 1919 (Qtr 3 Sunderland Vol 10a Pg 613)- Sadly your Grandfather will only have been 7 when his Dad died. Hi Nikki, Thankyou for Elizabeth. John died between 1910(marriage) and my granda joseph Cobb marriage(1934), only know this as he is deceased on the marriage certificate. My mam said he commited suicide, dont know any details though. Thanks Karen

I may be wrong here so suggest you buy the relevant certificates to back things up but looks like a strong possibility. If this is right it looks like John was married twice also. So now I have: Elizabeth Palmer marrying John Betts.... John Betts 1901 Apr-May-Jun Sunderland Durham Elizabeth Palmer 1901 Apr-May-Jun Sunderland Durham John then dies in Jun qtr 1907 BETTS John 36 Sunderland 10a 396 & Elizabeth remarries in 1910! Got there in the end, was a bit confused.... Now we need to find John Parkinson Cobb in 1901 so we can work backwards. Your original request was for look ups in 1891 & 1871, does this mean you have him in 1901?

ok so we know that your Grandfathers mothers maiden name was Palmer. The 1910 marriage you refer to originally is between John Parkinson Cobb & either Elizabeth Betts or Dora Green. What we now need to establish is if this is the right marriage? I guess it's possible that Elizabeth Betts was originally Elizabeth Palmer & had married a Mr Betts before marrying John. I'll do a bit more digging.....

Nikki,Georgina and Reggie, Thankyou very much, He is on my grandfathers marriage certificate as deceased, this was in 1934, and hewas a ship plater(foreman)in Sunderland. I found a John P Cobb in genes reunited tree match, born 1879, but in 1901 same basic details but his name is John C Cobb?. His wife was Elizabeth Palmer, born1881 died 1955, Southwick Sunderland. I assume they were married in Southwick, Sunderland possibly Holy Trinity Church or maybe registry office. Thanks. Karen

Hi could anyone please help me. I am looking for a John Parkinson Cobb, born abt 1879. I have his marriage in 1910. There is a John P Cobb in 1891 census, if someone could help me with those details, apart from that, I can find no trace, could there possibly be a spelling mistake as there is a John C Cobb?
