Find Ancestors

My g.grandfather left my grandad etc when they were young. Noone ever spoke about him! Only last week i found his death and another marriage. I osrdered the certificates and got the marriage one today! But i'm stumped! He married a woman named Kate St Lawrence. They married in 1938 and she was 59 years old. It says she is a widow and that her fathers name is Job Turton. From this i assume she was married before. I have searched all day and found zilch! I have found more than one Job Turton but none with a daughter named Kate. I've looked for a marriage for a kate turton to a St lawrence and nothing. I even looked through the BMD records on ancestry and found no marriages for a St Lawrence to a truton. It possible i suppose that she was married before she married a St Lawrence but i'm stuck. Can anyone help? Hayley

I would try along the marriage three times line! could Kate have been short for Katherine/Kathryn or something like that-Did you find a Kate turton to anyone marriage ? then you could look for a death of that husband! and work forwards-if you could find any at all! When/where was she born-if you give some places and dates we can try and help you more!

All i know is that on her marriage cert she was 59 which makes her 1879ish and that her father was Job Turton. Thats all the cert tells me x

where did they marry-county-any profession of her Father mentioned?

They married in Willesden in Middlesex and it says her father was a farmer

Don't think so-the're no Death for a JOB between 1880 and 1881.

How likely is it that she just called herself a different name when she married?

Yes DD it was the one, so there was a marriage for them, he was Job and daughter was Kate. So that looks like it could be them x
