Can anyone please help me with a lookup for the 1841 census on the 1837Online site? I've been looking for an Israel Bond of any age in London for some time. There is an 'Israel Band age 6 yrs in St 'on the index. Can anyone help me with an image for this entry? I'd be most grateful. Tina

Hi Tina I am on Ancestry not 1837online, I cannot see an Israel Band, but there is a transcription for an Israel Baud in Suffolk, St Peter, St Mathew. It does look like Band not Bond on the image tho' Regards Gail.

There is an Israel Baud on Ancestry.age 6. He's in St Peter, Suffolk That's probably the same person, with yet another mistransription Reg

Hi to you all and very many thanks for your replies. I don't think Israel Bands age 6 can be my man. My gt gt grandparents on my mothers side were William Bond (a carpenter) and Sarah (nee Brice). I have them in Aylesford, Kent in 1851 and Bethnal Green in 61 and 71. According to the census William was born circa 1824 and Sarah 1828. William in St George in the East or Spitalfields and Sarah in Spitalfields or Limehouse . They had 9 known children, my gt grandfather John being the second oldest (the first being born circa 1845). Now I've searched and searched for a marriage for this couple under different spellings for some time and finally found a marriage for Israel Bond and Sarah Brice who married 13 July 1845 St George in the East. He was of full age and she was a minor. He was a carpenter and his father, Stephen Bond was also a Carpenter. Sarah's father was John Brice a chemist. I can't find a death for this Israel Bond and also can't find him in any of the census returns. I think that I may have the right marriage here and maybe my William and this Israel are one and the same. I need to find out if he was baptised William Israel Bond or vice versa!! Oh, I forgot to add that Sarah died at the end of 1871 of TB in Bethnal Green and William died in 1872 also of TB. Tina

Tina Perhaps I haven't understood, but if you think William and Israel are the same chap, then he should be abt 17 in 1841, not 'any age' and probably in Kent or London?

Have you tried looking for father Stephen Bond or for the Brices in 1841?

Well I asked for any age as I thought in 1841 they rounded ages down or up by so many years. I haven't looked for John Brice as yet. I have found a Stephen and Martha Bond in Bethnal Grn in 1841 but there is no Israel with them. One of Williams children was called Martha. I have also found a death for Stephen Bond in 1847 or 1849 (I'll have to look at my notes as I'm going from memory here). Tina

Yes I have this too Reg. I'm just going through my notes here! I have this Samuels baptism from the Parish Register site. Samuel Bond born 31/8/1814 Baptised 31/8/1823 Father: Stephen Bond and mother: Martha of King's Street (St Mary Whitechapel) - fathers occupation: Carpenter. There was also another for a Henry Bond born 1817 and baptised 1823 same info for parents. There must have been more children for this couple but maybe they were baptised somewhere else. I've tried the baptisms for St George in the East on the Parish Register site but no luck Tina

Just to clarify..........1841 census rounded down to the nearest 5, the ages of over-15's........thus a 17 yr old would probably be down as born c1826. Reg
