Irene, it looks to me as if Rossendale should come under the registration district of Haslingden. Don't know whether that will help! Kate.

Hi Lorraine Thanks for that, not too sure if it is the right family, as 'Blackburn' seems to be pretty far away from Bury, wouldnt the family come under some parish near bury rather than 'Blackburn' although it could be the right family as we know next to nothing about them before Elizabeth and Mary-ann. I have lots of Duckworth names from the graves which used to be in the old church in Little Lever Bolton, where Elizabeth and Mary-Ann lived after their respective marriages, but can't find any of these on any census' either. I appreciate all your help

Hi everyone, Please could anyone help me with census look-ups. Im trying to research my Duckworth line but can't find them on any other census lists except the 1881 at familysearch.org. My Elizabeth Duckworth born c1852 to Alice Duckworth, maiden name/fathers name unknown. Elizabeth had at least one sister Mary Ann who married Robert Lord.a boat builder I have found Robert & family on the 1881 census. Elizabeth married John Whitehead they had a son Harold b1878, then Elizabeth died in childbirth (we think c1888), I also managed to find them on the 1881 census. Alice seems to be giving us problems, we know practically nothing about her, who she married, her maiden name, her date of birth, when she died, who her parents were etc. We do know that Rossendale nr Bury Lancs has something to do with the Duckworths but not much else. Also that Alice spent some time living with Mary Ann and Robert, but frequently visited Rossendale. I know its a long shot but could anyone please see if they can locate these people either before or after the 1881 census. Its the only census I have access to. Thanks so much in advance Irene
