I have a Charles Wilson aka Tug in my tree. He was my Grandmothers father. I have tried as much as I am possible to even get a start on this guy, and frustration isn't the word. If anyone can give me a point in the right direction, where I could at least start looking with the limited information that I have I would be eternally grateful! My grandmother never really knew her father and she died never knowing and I promised her I would try and find out at least where he originated from as she didn't have the happiest of childhoods, due to her originating from a Black man in the early 1920's. He was Charles Wilson he married Nellie Sparrow May 12th 1920 at St Mathews in Chadderton Oldham and lived at 39 Garforth Street in Chadderton, Oldham. He was a seaman from somewhere in the Bahamas we believe from stories that he frequented Manchester docks and supposedly did work on Broadway (main road) in Oldham. His father was Michael Wilson a Master Mariner who was deceased at his time of marriage. I just need to locate where he originated from. If anyone could tell if there is a record that will tell me this of the information given, I would be very grateful. Many thanks Joanne |
