One of my Gt Uncles died in action in France in WW1. Would there have been a death certificate and if so where would I locate it? Thanks, Peter |

Hello Peter I'm not sure if you can get death certificates for deaths in action abroad, but have you located him on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site? It has lots of great information. Suzy |

Certificates for WW1 deaths overseas are usually available from GRO England and Wales or GRO Scotland but tend to be much abbreviated compared to the ' normal ' death certificate. Denis. |
