Thanks Kath, In those years Intake in Sheffield was on the Derbyshire/Yorkshire border so with his birthplace being given as Derbyshire family ties could have been local to Sheffield. On the Commonwealth war graves website, as the mother of Joseph she is called Evelyn, just to add to variations. Roger

It says on the 1901 census that George was born in Derbyshire. If he was born when his mother was unmarried, could this be him with grandparents in 1891? I can't find a George Taylor with mother Eva. The formerly name should be her maiden name. If she had been married previously it should have said 'late ?????, formerly Taylor' Kath. x

Can anyone please help with tracing my wifes great grandmother, Eva Annie Ramsden. She is in the 1901 census with husband Joe at Intake in Sheffield, (she apparently married beneath herself, but I cannot find any record of a marriage). Prior to marrying Joe she had two children, George and a.n.other and then with Joe she had, Joseph, killed in WW1, Arthur and Ursula, (my wifes grandmother). On Arthurs birth certificate she is formerly called Taylor. Is this her maiden name or if she was married previously, would it be her other married name. The 1901 census says she was then 34 and born in Dewsbury, but I cannot find anything about her or her son George prior to then. Your help is appreciated, Roger.
