I really am not sure. All I know the info I have on birth certificate and that my grandfather said he was placed in a boys home when he was young. He lived in Sydenham/Lewisham. Its possible he had an older brother. I have looked at many records and John may have been born in 1865 and Harriett in 1870 but thats only an guess. I know he called himself John Lawrence but when he got his birth cert in 1950 he was Henry John Lawrence. I have looked through workhouse records and tryed different spelling on Lawrence, Laurence, Lawrance, Laurance, etc.

My grandfather Henry John Lawrence was born 8/12/1899 in Lewisham to parents John Lawrence and Harriett Lawrence (maiden name Pearce). I have this info from original birth certificate. I cannot find any marriage record for John and Harriett or the family on the 1901 census. Any help appreciated.
