There are some good web sites which might help you: Here is one, but if you go to the Google site, and type in Deciphering handwriting, it comes up with quite a few. http://amberskyline(.)com/treasuremaps/oldhand(.)html and another http://www(.)british-genealogy).(com/resources/census/writing(.)html Remove Brackets Plus a tip to ask a very old person if they can read it for you! Hi I have recently purchased a 1830s will from the National Archives. I have never tried to read the old handwriting of a will before and I am completely lost. Still fairly new to this game. Can someone please help me to read this will, so I can perhaps make out the names to see if I have the correct gentleman, as I am not sure he is the one. Thank you in advance. Irene NZ |
